Every month we stop and recognize one of our amazing travelers. This month’s featured traveler of the month Mitch certainly deserves to be recognized. To quote his recruiter Nash, “Mitch is a champ!” Nash goes on to praise Mitch as a fantastic traveler and person. “Mitch consistently gets great reviews from the facilities he’s worked at through Host. Even when an assignment has been less than perfect, he maintains professionalism and rolls with the punches. I would like to continue working with him for his entire travel career because he’s so pleasant to chat with and he’s so communicative.” But it’s not Mitch’s recruiter that sings his praise. Our QA team describes Mitch as “someone with a great attitude that is a pleasure to work with.” We are very lucky to have Mitch as a Host Healthcare traveler. Let’s learn more about this amazing person.
Featured Traveler of the Month Karlen
1) If you could have one super power what would it be and why?
If I could have any superpower it would be to take anyone healthy again. In my career in healthcare I’ve seen different kinds of pain in all ages of patients and I like to think what I do is helping them on their journey to become healthier, but I would give that all up if I had the ability to cure anyone at anytime.
What’s Been Your Favorite Travel Experience?
2) What has been your favorite experience since you have been traveling?
My favorite experience traveling so far was when I had a doctor who I respected shake my hand and thank me for coming to their facility to help them on my last day of an assignment.
What’s The Best Place You’ve Visited?
3) What has been your favorite places/spots you have visited while on assignment?
Each place that I’ve traveled to for my assignments has had it’s positives and negatives (positives outweighing the negatives so far). It’s hard to pick just one place and there are many more places I want to explore.
4) What made you want to become a traveler?
I’ve always had a wanderlust and have wanted to experience different areas of the country so that was probably my impetus for starting my traveling medical professional career.
Any Travel Fears?
5) What was one thing you were scared of before your first assignment, and how did you combat that?
I didn’t have anything I was really scared of when I was starting my traveling career before I went to my first assignment. My recruiter, Nash and the compliance team made sure everything was ready to go and I just jumped in with both feet. After having a number of first days out here on the road there’s always some butterflies but I’m confident in my abilities and I know my recruiter had my back so I can just go in and do a good job and hit the ground running.
How Do You Unwind After A Busy Day?
6) What is a guilty pleasure after a long day at work?
I’m from New Orleans, so a guilty pleasure after a day at work is either going out to eat some great food or gathering all the supplies and exploring the local cuisine by cooking something up myself.
How Would You Describe Your Recruiter?
7) What is one word that describes your recruiter, Nash?
One word the describes my recruiter Nash is “thebestestrecruiterintheworld”! I’m submitting that to Merrimack-Webster to put in their next dictionary.
