Host Healthcare Traveler of the Month: Sherri

Congratulations to our featured traveler Sherri. Our featured traveler of the month Sherri is a travel therapist who just started her 4th assignment with Host Healthcare. Read this article and check out the fun photos below to learn more about Sherri.

Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

A: If I could have one superpower, it would be to heal people’s physical injuries and emotional/mental pain at a superhuman rate, because I want there to be less suffering in the world.

Q: What has been your favorite experience since you have been traveling?

A: My favorite experience has been doing the cross-country road trips between assignments with an open itinerary. There’s so much freedom and adventure in that. I’m thankful and so blessed to have those opportunities.

Q: What has been one of your favorite places/spots you have visited while on assignment?

A: Northern California, for sure. Specifically, Mount Shasta. It is a beautiful and inspiring yet underrated area.

Q: What made you want to try travel therapy?

A: I remember, even during grad school, having this innate desire to wander the country while helping people and developing myself as a clinician in different settings. And what better way to fully experience each region of the U.S. than to live and work there for at least several months at a time?

Q: What was one thing you were scared of before your first assignment and how did you combat that?

A: Gosh, I was really nervous before my first assignment because it was a completely new setting to me and I didn’t feel very confident, not to mention I had read on travel therapy blogs that the facility could cancel your contract at any point. Well, I turned my fears into a challenge and just kept doing my best. I was a fast learner, well received, and ended up getting offered requests to stay permanently everywhere I went, so it worked out! 🙂

Q: What is your guilty pleasure after a long day at work?

A: Oil painting! Give me paintbrushes, some paint, and a blank canvas, and I’m a happy girl. Either that or rock climbing.

Q: What is one word that sums up your recruiter, Jordan?

A: Just one? I’d have to say: vital. Jordan has been the absolute best recruiter and my travel assignments/experiences with Host wouldn’t have been so positive without his time and energy, pulling the strings and looking out for me. He is personable, attentive, helpful, and so chill.
