    Housing 101

Housing can be one of those things that adds stress to an assignment. There is a lot to think about and review. All of our recruiters are skilled in helping to find the best possible housing option for you. BUT in the event that you are a more hands-on individual, here are some basic housing tips!

    Housing Tips

-Be open and upfront with your personal wants and needs. For instance, is being in a 5-mile radius to Starbucks exceptionally important to you (we don’t blame you!)? Do you have pets? What kind of breed, etc?

-Set a realistic budget for the area your contract is in. A good rule of thumb is to check out apartment/rent websites in that area and see what decent places are going for.

-Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Set yourself up for success by asking the interviewer where safe areas are to live in and where other travelers have stayed before. Ask apartments if they offer 3 month leases and what is included in the rent (water, trash, any extra deposits, etc).

-Hotels are also a viable option. Call and negotiate a 3-month stay with a local hotel. They most likely have a cheaper monthly rate. Don’t forget to tell them you are a healthcare professional — you might get a special discounted rate.

-Your new abode may or may not be furnished. If you do need a few pieces of furniture, try Aarons, Rent-A-Center, CORT, Brook, or AFR.

    -Resources: www.rent.com, www.apartmentguide.com, www.apartments.com, www.VRBO.com, www.airbnb.com, www.hotpads.com. Or call the local Chamber of Commerce for more ideas/help.
