10,000 Lakes

Your next travel nursing assignment in Minnesota is waiting for you. The state’s nickname, the “Land of 10,000 Lakes”, is apt, as there are 11,842 Minnesota lakes over 10 acres in size. In fact, many would argue that you haven’t had the full Minnesota experience if you haven’t spent any time at a lake. After all, they’re not hard to find! So, when you plan your Minnesota getaway, be sure to carve out some time at a lake. Find travel nursing jobs in Minnesota with Host Healthcare today!

Things To Do At The Lakes

Play at the beach

It’s the classic way to spend a summer day. Spread out a towel, pull out a good book, and splash in the lake. It’s easy to include a beach day (or several!) on a Minnesota getaway. Many cities have great beaches right in town, including Big Lake, Detroit Lakes, Fairmont, Spicer and Waconia. For a refreshing dip in our biggest lake, Superior, head to Park Point Beach in Duluth.

Paddle away

Canoes, kayaks and paddleboards are a great way to explore our lakes. Many state and local parks offer canoe and kayak rentals for easy lake paddling. In Minneapolis, you can rent a canoe at Lake Calhoun and paddle through a chain of lakes via connecting canals.

Take a cruise

An easy and fun way to get out on a lake is to climb aboard an excursion boat. In the northern forests, a narrated boat trip in Itasca State Park explores the lake where the Mississippi River Lake Minnetonka steamboat begins as a small stream, and excursion boats explore the wilderness lakes of Voyageurs National Park.

Spend the night

It can be hard to tear yourself away from the lake at the end of the day…so don’t! Watch the sun set amid vivid pinks and purples. After nightfall, roast marshmallows at a campfire, be amazed by zillions of stars twinkling above, see the moon rise above the lake, and if you’re lucky, catch the northern lights dancing in the sky.

I’ve had a great experience with Host Healthcare. Lauren Pollacci is an excellent recruiter and easily the best one I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, she made the entire process painless. She is always extremely helpful with any need or concern I may have. I couldn’t imagine working with another recruiter at this point!

I've been working with Host Healthcare as a travel nurse for three years now and wouldn't change a thing. My recruiter Kat Cook has made the transition from staff nursing to travel nursing so easy. She is always available, listens to the needs of both myself and my wife (travel pair), and finds us the best jobs in the best locations! 10 out of 10 would recommend her and the agency every time.

Just started my 7th PT contract with Host and every contract has been a smooth transition. I’ve had great communication with my recruiter Kathryn Cook who has helped me land some great jobs and help with the credentialing process. I plan on staying with Host for many more years.
