There are several reasons why to become a travel nurse. From the career growth, to the ability to travel and see the country, to meeting several amazing people. But to help answer that question we turned to some of our travelers to find out why they decided to become a travel nurse. From this research, we were able to put together our 7 reasons why to become a travel nurse.

7 Reason Why To Become A Travel Nurse

Explore the world. Travel nurse Haley said, “I felt like I was stuck in a rut (and traffic) in my full-time job! I wanted to get out and explore the world. Something I didn’t get to do growing up!”

Making good money. Travel nurse Morgan talks about the money you can earn being a travel nurse, especially after getting married. “Well it always sounded amazing, being paid good money to see the U.S. PLUS we had just gotten married, so it seemed like perfect timing.”

Check out amazing sights of the country. “I have always had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling. My parents took my brother and I on a couple trips to Europe as teenagers, which sparked my love for international travel too. So far, I have been to 34 states in the beautiful USA, half of which are thanks to travel nursing, and I have loved every minute of it,” says travel nurse Ashlin.

A passion of helping others. Travel nursing couple Neil and Sarah where thrilled about the opportunity travel nursing presented them. “We have such a passion for traveling and we are both nurses. It just seemed like the perfect match. When the time was right, we made the move and the rest is history!”

Family Time

Provide for your family. Travel nurse Shea was recovering from a divorce and looking to provide for her family. “Taking the 13-week contracts has allowed me to be able to save for a house (which is seemingly impossible with only one income and 4 children) and still be able to provide for my family.”

Spend time with your family. Another big reason why people become a travel nurse is taking family on the road with you. “I truly started this journey for my kids. I wanted them to get out and see the world, and know there was so much to it than west Texas.”

Traumatic Event

A traumatic event. Unfortunately, sometimes a big moment in your life could cause you to pick up and try something new. That is actually what happened to our travel nurse Oliver. “It helped me move on from the depressing death of my wife who died of cancer.”
